Keepalive: My Big Mouth Rages On

The responses to my Diablo 3 posts were not well received. I'm still in there swinging, though. If you care, read it quick before they ban me. :)

I'm posting that link as a keepalive article because it's basically my article for the day. It was more writing and rewriting than I'd like to admit, and more than enough for one day.

sigh

Is it winning?

I'm trying to accomplish something I think is good. I'm trying to be fair. I'm trying to be polite. I'm trying to ignore the personal attacks and stick to the pertinent facts. Basically, I'm trying to be a better man than I was when I argued with you. :P

But am I really doing anything more than annoying people who don't really care / think about what they say and do? I keep trying to have faith that they're good people who just don't understand. But I'm losing that faith.

BAP doesn't seem able to comprehend or see value in any perspective but his own.

DM seems well intentioned, but only to the point that it doesn't cost him anything.

TH is only somewhat gracious when he thinks he's in the right and immediately resorts to personal attacks and logical fallacies when he realizes he's not.

The overall opinion there seems to be that as long as you don't intend to be hurtful, it doesn't matter if you are.

And I'm not helping to change any of that. I'm just a nerd on the internt, upsetting some other nerds on the internet. My email tells me there's a post on that thread I haven't read yet. The night before last, sleeping on everything renewed my hope that I could do some good there. Waking up today, I had the distinct feeling it was time to move on. I don't even want to look.

I will, but I don't want to.

Oh, and just to be clear, I didn't think you were making personal attacks back in the old days. I was thinking more of when I would take us in a completely different direction because I thought I could "score some points for my side" that way. It wasn't fair or useful, and I regret it.
